Countries often mint bullion coins of different precious metals to provide investors and collectors a greater variety of price points and diversification options. In this regard, more and more minting authorities are starting to offer palladium coins. For example, the gold-version of the Canadian Maple Leaf bullion coin was introduced in 1979, followed by the silver and platinum versions in 1988. However, the palladium version – first minted in 2005 – is relatively new.
