NEW Ship & Sell Feature – Discounted Shipping Labels

17. May 2012 03:40

Our dedicated customers are sure to know all about our Ship & Sell feature that lets you send us your precious metal scraps – even if you’re not in Manhattan.

To start using Ship & Sell, all you have to do is create an Account with us and then you’re on your way to printing new mailing labels each time you have a new lot of precious metals to ship to us. We only purchase metals wholesale, serving jewelry, pawn and industrial companies. Having an account with Manhattan Gold & Silver will help us quickly communicate about the status of your lot, whether you are in New York City or not.

Now, Manhattan Gold & Silver has partnered with G4S International Logistics to provide you with discounted shipping labels with insurance included (FedEx or UPS). Shipping and insuring gold or other precious metals can be expensive and put a dent in your return. However, by taking advantage of our partnership with G4S, you can use our Ship & Save feature to get the maximum payout for your long distance transaction. To get your discounted shipping label, simply:

  • use this link
  • Enter your Company Name and Email Address in their respective fields and click “Submit”
  • Read and accept the Return Shipment Terms and Conditions. Click Continue button.
  • Now you will able to begin creating your shipping label. Enter “Ship From” information (Ship To information is pre-populated with Manhattan Gold & Silver’s info). Then, specify “Shipment Information” (choose your ship date and service level / ship method, enter insured value, enter type of packaging and weight of box). Click Continue button.
  • You can also check the "Schedule Pickup" box to choose date and time you want your package picked up.
  • You will then be able to review your discounted shipping costs and pay with your credit card

Do not create an account with G4S.  You will only get the discount when you go through our link.  After that, follow the onscreen prompts to get your insured and discounted shipping labels. It’s just another way your friendly neighborhood metal refiner tries to help you get the maximum payout for your gold and other precious metals.

Ask MGS: How much can I get for my flatware set?

16. February 2012 10:33

One of customers recently wrote in, asking: “I have a sterling silver flatware service set for 12 weighing approximately 4 lbs. Would you be interested in purchasing it, and at what price?”

Yes, we will purchase a silver flatware set. Our payout would be based on the London Daily Fixing. However, you should note that sterling silver is not pure silver. Therefore, you wouldn’t be paid for 4 lbs. of silver; you would need to deduct the impurities from the weight.  Keep in mind knife handles are estimated because they have steel blades.

Usually, sterling silver is 92.5% pure silver. However, flatware can vary depending on where it was made. Examine your flatware set and look for a number stamp. Check this number with our silver purity chart to determine how much silver is in the set.

The easiest way to get an estimate for your payout is to register with MGS. Once you do, you’ll gain access to our payout calculator. Simply input the weight and the type of metal, and our calculator will tell you our estimated payout. You can then ship the metal straight to us, and we can send you a check or wire payment, usually on the same day we receive your lot.

Q&A: Refining and Payout

8. February 2012 08:59

We’ve seen a recent inflow of questions about Manhattan Gold & Silver’s refining and payment process. Of course, customer service is very important to us, so we’ve decided to answer some frequently asked questions here on our blog.

Q: Do you melt your own gold?

A: Absolutely. Manhattan Gold & Silver does all of its own precious metal melting on site. We are able to process your lot faster and can offer you a bigger payout than other refiners.  You can witness your own melt being processed.

Q: What percentage of a gold lot’s worth do you pay out?

A: We are very competitive with our payouts. We will pay up to 99% of the current value of your gold lot, according to the daily London Fixing. Since the 3 p.m. (London time) fixing is done to correspond with the opening of the U.S. market, this is the fixing we use for our payouts.

Q: Can you give me an estimate for my lot?

A: Manhattan Gold & Silver gives you several options to get an estimate for your lot.
•    You can give us a call at 212-398-1454.
•    Bring your precious metal to our storefront in Manhattan.  We will hand test it and pay you based on that day's price (London Daily PM fixing) on the spot (in cash, check, or wire).  If you have a larger lot and a little more time, we will melt it down on site and assay a sample of the bar before calculating your payout.
•    Use our Pennyweight Conversion Chart and our weight conversion calculator in combination with the most current daily London Fixing to calculate payments on your own.
•    Register with our website to gain access to our Precious Metals Payout Estimator. You also gain access to our Ship & Sell feature when you register. You don’t need to be near New York to work with us. Simply ship us your metal, and we can wire you a payment, often on the same day we receive your lot.

Manhattan Gold & Silver is always pleased to answer your questions, so feel free to contact us with your comments or concerns.
